Rejoice Committee

As we prepare to celebrate the centennial of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, we realize the “source and summit” of our life together for more than 100 years has been the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.  It is this Mystery of Faith that has spiritually nourished generations of the faithful through word and sacrament and given direction to all apostolic efforts.

The role of the liturgy committee has been:

  • to help prepare the faithful for the reception of the new translation of the third edition of the Roman Missal;
  • to work for the ongoing renewal in the liturgical life of our parishes;
  • to oversee the preparation of the grand liturgy at the American Bank Center, on Monday March 26, 2012, marking beginning the Centennial Jubilee Year; and
  • oversee the preparation of the grand liturgy for Monday, March 25, 2013, marking the end of the Jubilee and the beginning of the next 100 years of being the Body of Christ.
Through workshops and other educational resources, the Diocesan Office of Worship has been working with priests, deacons, religious, and laity to prepare for the new Roman Missal on the first Sunday of Advent 2011. The Diocesan Office of Music is also working with music directors and musicians in parishes with focus on the chants and music found in the New Missal and new arrangements for the sung parts of the Mass with the new translation.
